Find me on -

Hello!

I don't like giving away my age before we have even sat down but - in the spirit of getting to know me - I have worked in the creative industry for over 20 years covering graphic design, branding, website design and build, marketing material, packaging, creative direction, user experience design and consultancy.

Small businesses & start-ups

I took the decision to leave my agency position some time ago now and go freelance to make a difference to small Suffolk businesses and start-ups who are passionate about what they do and ready to take the next step of launching or refreshing their brand or website - and know great design and user experience matters  - but often can't afford the agency price tag that comes with that.

Some years on and I have never looked back, expanding outside of Suffolk to London and the rest of the UK working with some amazing entrepreneurs and fantastic businesses. My objective is always to make a difference to the performance of your business through the creative work I carry out.

Consultancy & Contract work

If you are looking to expand your freelance network, or have an urgent requirement needing an experienced UX designer it's probably worth a chat so I can explain what I do in more detail. My skill base and experience covers roles from planning workshops to visual, experience and interaction design, art direction and creative consultancy.

Profile Statement

Short

I am a freelance visual experience designer, with over 20 years industry experience. Working closely with clients to produce branding, graphics, website design and build, with a strong slant on increasing the performance of their business through the work I carry out. I also contract with some fantastic agencies as a UX and print designer.

Further to this I work with corporations as a UX Designer & Consultant. Facilitating design workshops, embedding user experience principles, prototyping concepts and creating user interfaces for digital products.

With an education in branding and graphic design, learning to build the web as the web started to be built (cutting my teeth on oil company intranets in 1995). Designing and building websites across the world including places such as Ecuador and Costa Rica, running my own agency and design teams in other agencies; my experience is broad bringing a professional, organised, well thought out creative strategy to every project.

Why the move to freelance? I missed rolling up my sleeves and getting creative.

The balance of small business design with corporate user experience and service design gives me an end to end approach to the work I carry out. Giving me access to user testing, focus groups, research findings and UX practices from large projects to inform my small entrepreneurial clients who at their stage cannot afford or do not have the traffic for UX processes. On the flip side often gaining insight and empathy with the pain points of corporate end customers.

My experience of disciplines within the design and technology industry, enables me to work seamlessly across teams; carrying out pitches with sales teams, workshops and training with stakeholders, specifications and scheduling with project managers, design and development team integration and  translation of research findings to embed into UX and UI processes.
